What is Section 7?

Section 7 is one of the premier NCAA-certified scholastic basketball events in the country, showcasing boys' and girls' varsity high school teams in front of hundreds of college coaches. The event is run in conjunction with the Arizona Basketball Coaches Association and is nationally recognized for its elite competition and unmatched exposure opportunities.

Who can participate in Section 7?

Only varsity high school teams from state-sanctioned programs are eligible. Club teams, AAU teams, or prep academies are not permitted. All teams must be approved by their school and governing state association.

How do I apply for my team to participate?

• 2024–25 season roster (if available)

• Previous season results or schedule

 

What happens after my team is accepted?

When your team is invited to the tournament, you will register and then receive a password to access the Tournament Central site, which will provide everything you need to complete registration, book hotels, submit rosters, and review event logistics.

Is this a Stay and Play event?

Yes. All teams traveling from outside Maricopa County are required to book their accommodations within the official block of rooms provided. Booking details will be available on the Tournament Central site after acceptance.

How are teams selected?

Teams are selected based on competitiveness, geographical representation, returning talent, and level of college interest. Due to space limitations, not all applicants will be accepted.

When will we know if our team is accepted?

Acceptance notifications will be sent via email. A list of accepted teams will also be posted on our website.

Do players need to register with the NCAA?

Yes. All players must be registered and listed as “active” in both the NCAA Eligibility Center and the BBCS (Basketball Certification System) in order to compete.

Are college coaches allowed to attend?

Yes! Section 7 takes place during an NCAA Division I live period and draws hundreds of college coaches from across the country.

What if our school is out-of-state?

Out-of-state high school teams are welcome and encouraged to apply! All teams must be part of a state-sanctioned high school program and provide verification of eligibility and approval from their state association.

What should we bring?

• Two sets of uniforms (light & dark)

• Proof of insurance

• Updated roster and BBCS documentation

• School-issued ID for coaches and staff
